Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • ¾ to 1 cup low-fat milk, or dairy-free milk
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (for Maple Brown Sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon light brown sugar (for Maple Brown Sugar)
  • 1 tablespoon creamy peanut butter (for Peanut Butter Banana)
  • ½ medium banana, sliced into thin pieces (for Peanut Butter Banana)
  • ½ medium apple, chopped into small cubes (for Apple Cinnamon)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (for Apple Cinnamon)
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter (for Almond Blueberry)
  • ¼ cup fresh blueberries (for Almond Blueberry)

Instructions

  1. Combine oats, milk, and chia seeds in a 16 ounce mason jar.
  2. Stir until combined.
  3. Add your desired flavor mix-ins (maple brown sugar, peanut butter banana, apple cinnamon, or almond blueberry) to the jar.
  4. Stir the ingredients again until well incorporated.
  5. Cover the jar securely with the top.
  6. Refrigerate overnight, or for at least 5 hours.
  7. Serve cold, or reheat in the microwave for 1 minute, stirring halfway through.

Notes

Always use old-fashioned rolled oats for the best texture.
Stir thoroughly to prevent chia seeds from clumping.
Refrigerate for at least 5 hours, but overnight is ideal for optimal thickening.
Add delicate fresh fruit or crunchy toppings right before serving.
