Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup old fashioned oats
  • ½ scoop chocolate protein powder (or other protein source)
  • 1-2 tsp. chia seeds (more or less, depending on how oatmeal thickness desired)
  • 1 tsp. honey, agave or other sweetener of choice
  • ¾ cup milk of choice (low fat milk, soy, almond, cashew, etc.)
  • ½ chopped fruit of choice (strawberries, blueberries, bananas, apples, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a mason jar or other portable container.
  2. Close the container tightly.
  3. Shake the container vigorously to combine all ingredients.
  4. Place the sealed container in the refrigerator.
  5. Chill for 2-3 hours to overnight.
  6. When ready to eat, give the oats a final stir.
  7. Adjust sweetener, if needed, to taste.
  8. Serve chilled.
  9. Alternatively, to warm, place the container in the microwave for 1 – 1.5 minutes.
  10. Check on oats every 30 seconds to prevent getting too hot or overflowing.
  11. Always give one final stir before enjoying.

Notes

Use old-fashioned oats for the best texture, as instant oats can become too mushy.
Shake the jar really well to ensure the protein powder is fully mixed in and prevent clumps.
For optimal creaminess and thickness, allow the oats to chill overnight in the refrigerator.
Feel free to adjust the amount of chia seeds to achieve your preferred oatmeal thickness.
